Mechanic broke my car $1,800 to fix

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Broke my car, need $1,800 to fix it

Here is my experience with YourMechanic.com

Mechanic Andrew from the Fort Myers, FL location came to my location to replace the power steering hose. The job was to take 2 hours.

After 3 hours I checked on him and he complained about my car, saying it was a pain and that he hated working on Nissan Muranos. 2 Hours later he said that the hose didn't fit and he had to order a new one.

Fast forward 2 days later, Andrew came back with another power steering hose and attempted to replace it. After 2 hours I checked on him and he was working in the dark. I asked him if he needed a light and he said "no, I have vampire eyes".

2 hours later, he texted me to come out and said that "he broke a park and cannot finish the job" He said he would come back the next day to see if he could fix it.

He came back the next day, tried to fix it and texted me saying that he cannot do the job that it needs to be brought to a shop for repair.

I contacted the company, they sent Master Mechanic Mario out who informed me that the first Mechanic Andrew stripped out and mangled the housing of my rack and pinion. The first mechanic stripped the bolt and BROKE my rack and pinion steering system..

It's been going on 7 days since this happened. I spoke with Supervisor Chris once, and he was to call me back but has not. I cannot get through to customer service because there is a 45 minute wait time and then you get a message saying to leave a message.

I towed my car to a reputable shop.

I did not tell them about the rack and pinion, I just asked them to diagnose the steering system. They verified by estimate in writing that my rack and pinion system was damaged and could not be repaired without replacing it for $1,800.

Just FYI, my neighbor has surveillance cameras and every minute of mechanic Andrew working on my car was recorded. Before I contacted YourMechanic.com I took my car to Firestone who diagnosed the problem with my car as the power steering hose needing replacement. So, this was not self diagnosed or any other thing that could place blame on me.

The bottom line is that Mechanic Andrew was unprofessional and unqualified, and he did $1,800 of damage to my car. He disappeared thereafter and so did YourMechanic.com.

Also, YourMechanic.com, made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to write a review about my experience with Andrew. They removed him so I couldn't write a review. In other words, this company protects these mechanics even when they break cars.

I imagine that Andrew is still working on people's cars, after causing $1,800 damage to mine.

I also contact your CEO Anthony Rodio and he has done nothing.

No one is calling me back to resolve this, so Rita please don't give me this canned response that you care and will be calling.

Here are your appointment numbers to prove that I was a customer.

Appointment Number with Mechanic Andrew 328****

Appointment Number with Mechanic Mario 329****

My name is Karen Martin and I will only change this review if you contact me and pay for my repairs.

For anyone who has experienced this same situation, write your reviews, contact the media, file a small claims lawsuit and contact your State Attorney's office. The BBB is a waste of time.

They cancelled the first time. Wasted that day. The second and third time (10 days later they cancelled again. They wasted my time for 10 days and then refused to do the job. Customer service said they will not charge my card a cancellation fee. Yeah, well I didn't cancel YourMechanic did. This service is bad in my eyes. Go to a reputable mechanic not these bozos. I think the mechanics are not trained very well.

I mistakenly called this company "my mechanics. They are "yourmechanic"

Original review Oct 21, 2019
I had a window that would not go down in May. I chose mymechanic because they had a 1-year warranty. Although I told them the window motor needed replacement, they insisted on a "diagnostic visit" for $70. The man came for 4 minutes, did not remove the door panel, yet said I needed a new motor. He recommended hundreds of dollars of routine maintenance too. I contested the charge with the credit care company. When they wanted $300 to install the motor, I said no. This would raise the total price above the authorized dealer's price. I received a call back that paying. I received a call back that for $217. more I could have the motor changed and all would be well. I noticed that there was a greater than 25 min wait on all calls unless you were making an appointment. Two days ago the same window would not go up or down. I called under their warrantee and waited 23 min for an operator, who then said I needed to be connected to a warranty dept. After another 25 min I was disconnected. I repeated this today but when I talked to the warrantee rep, he immediately said my warrantee was voided, even though I was told the $217 price was all inclusive and did not affect my warrantee. This was a retroactive (and unannounced) voiding of a warrantee that was unjustified. Basically this company's business model is based on skimming the public on a grand scale. They have no regard for their own word, for common business practices, nor for the law. They are arrogant as well in their demeanor If they can't cheat you they don't want to do" business" with you. Stay away no matter what they promise or say.

EXTREMELY PISSED CONSUMER

After THREE MECHANIC VISITS, it was determined the FIRST MECHANIC MICHAEL, MISDIAGNOSED THE REPAIR PROBLEM USING HIS VERY OWN CODE READER on Friday October 4, 2019. I made a call while, Michael was still at site to price the part, AFTER BEING QUOTED THE PRICE CHANGE FOR LABOR AND PART, I WOULD BE CHARGED THROUGH YOURMECHANIC FOR THE CODE READING REPAIR. THE BEING THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I then purchased based on Michaels code reading recommendation, then rescheduled the appointment for Monday October 7, 2019 with an unprofessional, ill mannered mechanic Chris. Which resulted in a THIRD scheduling of appointment with Adrian. After Adrian repairing my vehicle & thorough "spot check" based on previous diagnosis, it was determined the repair diagnosis was improper and misdiagnosed. Adrian left precise and detailed voice notes indicating other than previous stated repair. I contacted YOURMECHANIC TO INQUIRE ABOUT MY REFUND FOR PART AND REPAIR based on initial misdiagnosis, only to be told, Michael the initial mechanic, did not notate such recommendation. I spoke with supervisor, requesting her to reach out to Michael to specifically inquire, "What code reading did your reader display and you provided to customer?" I got a return call shortly after whereas supervisor stated Michaels response was, "There were several code readings, and the Crankshaft Position Sensor was one of them." My response, "So, even if there were other code readings, why did he only specifically point that out to me? Why did he NOT notate such, in his findings either way, like what type of a mechanic did you all hire who did not notate any of site exchange? More importantly, why did he then quote me the charge for repair for the Crankshaft Position Sensor ONLY? " Their response, "We cant give you a refund because he stated other codes were reading?" I said, "It doesnt matter, I was NOT given any other repair recommendation BUT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TELL YOU WHAT, IF I YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE REFUND BASED ON YOUR MECHANICS RECOMMENDATION I WILL NOT ONLY DISPUTE THROUGH MY CREDIT CARD, BUT WILL FORWARD MY EXPERIENCE TO THE PROPER LOCAL & FEDERAL AGENCIES, AS WELL AS MY LOCAL DIRECT MEDIA UPDATE: On today, October 20. 2019, approx 2 whole weeks later, I was finally able to speak with a supervisor. As it was suggested prior to media submission to do so. After inquiring about refund status, supervisor Jennifer, stated, "Per terms of service you never received diagnosis, and therefore at this time ." I responded by informing "Jennifer" based on their mechanics diagnosis/recommendation, the initial was not performed, resulting in the completion of repair on October 8, 2019. Never even allowing me to continue with being overly billed by $10. Which is displayed on the "your price" page of my account (screenshot available). As Jennifer began to reiterate her statement, I interjected, "One second please, I too am going to record this conversation." Her response, "I dont feel comfortable being recorded, and I going to have to disconnect the call." Again, my experience has been nothing short of, misleading falsehoods, and deceptive practices.

Nightmare!!! Did nothing, cost me money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My experience with your company as a whole was a nightmare. I booked online got a quote. Had my car towed 60 miles to a friend's house because I live in Congress AZ and you don't come this far out. First day let Terry know I was on my way be there no later than 9: 30 am.(9:00 am appt.) He replied that he was approximately 50 minutes away. As it turned out I got there at 9:04 am I called Terry he asked did I need this car to be done today? Because he had a 2:00 PM appt. Said he would call them to see if he could reschedule with them. And that he would call me back. I told him if he could do part of the work that day and come back the next day to complete it that would be acceptable. Then I received a message stating that my appointment had been cancelled. Terry never called me back CON'D So I called the number on my message. I believe it was Paul whom I spoke with. I explained to him what was going on. He was very sympathetic to the situation. And said he would check out what was going on and get back with me which he did. He then rescheduled another appointment for the next day at 7:oo am. And said that the job would be completed that day. Then that the car wasn't in Terry's service area. I explained that I didn't pick Terry I thought he was assigned the job. He then told me that Terry bid the Job. Next day received a call from Terry at 6:50 am said that the pre- authorization was declined. I told him that I would call the bank and find out why and call him back. Because there were 7 transactions for the same amount $824.36 they put a security block on the acct. I asked why did it decline the first time I was told that the exp date was wrong. But now that I had confirmed that it was a legitimate charge it would go through. Called the number on my notice of decline from you. Spoke to Nick explained what happened with the bank.he was able to process the charge of $824.36. Said he would call Terry to let him know. I also sent Terry a text" payment processed." And another text "Are we good" next thing I received a message that my appointment had been cancelled again. Called to find out why? Terry had another appointment at 11:45. Why would he schedule a 11:45 appointment? He wasn't scheduled to be done with my car until at least 12:00 minimum? Nick was going to find out what was going on and call me back. Get a call back from Nick he had called 9 different mechanics to see who could do this job he was able to have Diego do it but not until Sunday. Told me Diego was more than Qualified, 19 yrs experienced certified and so on. That Diego was willing to work on his day off to rectify the situation. Guaranteed me that the JOB would be done with the exception of bad weather, act of god,or a disaster situation. Also very sympathetic to my situation and had done what he could to make it CONT'D right. Knowing the bind and major inconvenience of the situation I was in after I'm having to reschedule with my clients for the 2nd time. Now the 3rd. After I tried to confirm this appointment online ****have a late job to get to since I had to reschedule*** I will continue this later and you can feel free to call me tomorrow morning. And didn't see it I checked my email to find a message that my appointment had again been canceled. Not long after Nick guaranteed me that the job would be completely done on Sunday the 14th. Yet no one bothered to call me. So again I called the number on the notice of cancellation to find out why. I spoke with Jackson. Who asks me to hold then comes back on the line and proceeds to tell me that it was cancelled due to Diego not being qualified to do the work. I replied that Nick had just assured me that Diego was more than qualified, 19 years experience, certified and so on. Then he again asks me to hold comes back on the line and says Actually it's because there is an interface on your computer system that detects when a job is not Suitable to do on a platform basis. And that it should be done in a shop. To be done a 100% correctly. I then told him that he was giving me conflicting information. If this was true then why us it just now coming up. This was the 3rd appointment cancelled by Your Mechanic. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said he put in the request and someone would call me back. And a supervisor did call me back. She said that this job requires a lift. And that for this reason it needs to be done in a shop not on a platform basis. This also is not true. Then she said she put a $40 credit on my account with you to compensate for the inconvenience if I should choose to use your company again. Would you???? It cost me $20 extra in gas because I could not drive my car home which has a full tank of gas. It cost me a tow from AAA to tow my car there which I wouldn't of done if I wasn't told that your mechanic could do the work. Where your website states you have a lot of MASTER MECHANICS AND ALL YOUR MECHANICS ARE CERTIFIED. I can tell you about more inconveniences caused by this situation and the damage done to my credibility with my clients for having to reschedule jobs to work around not having my car due to me trusting what I I was being told by your employees.I trusted that dealing with a large national company would be better than a small business. So basically I was given excuse after excuse some of them outright lies. I would appreciate a call from the manager responsible for this unit. And here is a link you can pull up with step by step instructions on how to compete the job I was guaranteed would be done. To prove you don't need a lift. VW Passat Timing Belt Installation Instructions for 2.8L 30 Valve https://www.blauparts.com/vw_timing_belt_replacement/28l30v/howto/how_to_replace_vw_passat_timing_belt_installation_guide.htmlu. And now it will cost me another $20 in gas to be there to show my ID and AAA card to have it towed to another place for repair. And another tow that is no longer available to me I don't feel as though I was compensated for any of the additional expenses I incurred. Is this the customer service you stride to provide??? Every one I talked to apologized for the continuing inconveniences said they would try to make it right yet no one was able to follow through with what they said would happen. I told them I appreciated the apologies however that didn't change the situation I was now in. Nothing was rectified and I was told you couldn't do the job after 2 days of being reassured that the job would be completed And promise after promise being broken. And even a guarantee being defaulted on less than 3 hours after. Without so much as a phone call. All the promises to make it right were made verbally and all notices of cancellation of appointments were via email or text. I seriously hope that the appropriate person will listen to the recorded conversations and verify the information on the emails and texts pertaining to this situation. And then do something about it. My name us Rene'e F. and my phone number is *********. And I am seriously dissatisfied with the service I received from your mechanic. I hope to hear from someone regarding this. I will be waiting to hear from someone on what the end result will be prior to writing a disfavorable review. Yet again giving your mechanic an opportunity to make things right. ***end*** Well it's been 6 days and still no response. **update*** Received a call back from Jennifer offered an additional $40 account credit which I can't utilize because I am not in their service area. Asked for contact info for her supervisor/manager "she replied this will not be escalated." And "she can not provide that information. So they've done nothing to make it right

YourMechanic - Stole my money without fixing my car
I contacted yourmechanic.com to fix my power steering pump. First mechanic comes out and doesn’t drain all the old power steering fluid and doesn’t fix the problem. I call and they schedule for another mechanic to come out and fix it mind you this is 2 weeks later! Mechanic comes out and let’s me know that it’s a defective part and that’s it and goes to leave. I said wait aren’t you going to fix it? He says no I was only told to come out inspect it. My job is done here and leaves. I call the customer service number again and get rescheduled for another mechanic to come out and this time Fix it a whole another week later. 3rd mechanic comes out to supposedly fix it. And I STILL DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING AND ALL THE FLUID IS LEAKING ALL OVER THE PLACE NOW!!!! They charged my card $431 but I never got my power steering pump Fixed!!!!!

They cancelled the first time. Wasted that day. The second time they were over an hour late. Then they would not do the job because my vehicle was on dirt. Geez we live in a desert. So if you are stuck somewhere and need a mechanic go somewhere else. They wasted my time twice and then refused to do the job. Customer service said they will charge my card $25 cancellation fee. Yeah, well I didn't cancel YourMechanic. This service is bad in my eyes. Go to a reputable mechanic not these bozos.

Waste of time. Mechanic did not show up

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am a mother of two toddlers and work over 40+ hours a week. When I heard about YourMechanic I was so excited.

Ladies and gents, the other reviews are true, there are Mechanics that NEVER show up. I scheduled my front brake replacement at 12:pm so that it would be finished during my lunch. I checked in with my mechanic, Angel at 11:45, told him where I was parked and asked if I could bring down water/snacks. He told me no and that he was on his way.

I went down to my car at 12:00 pm, no mechanic, waited 30 min until I called him, he said he was 20 min away.. uh okay, I waited so more. at 12:50 I went back up to my office, I called him at 1pm... he said he was 15 MIN away.

My biggest pet peeve is people wasting time. Clearly he had to know he was going to be extremely late when first contacted yet he never gave me a heads up. I ended up having to contact customer service to cancel, the rep said, "since it's the mechanic's fault we won't charge you a cancellation fee" That's it. Nothing else.

Clearly there aware this happens all the time. There is a saying, What comes cheap becomes pricey and this holds true. Not worth the $20 less than my body shop.

I've made sure to tell everyone at my office that this company is a fraud and I'll continue to tell anyone that will listen. Definitely do NOT recommend.

Pay only after your car complete fix the problems

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have call mechanic from this site and got an appoitment at 8pm for replace a thermostats housing. After over one hour, the mechanic tell me the new part has defected and he can not fix.

I saw his job all the time and found that he don't known how to install all screws. He required me pay 60$ but he not finished this job and my coolant still through out from the housing thermostat, also he make the new part damaged so I can not return to store with price $ 143.56.

I pay him $60 at 10 pm in front of Chase bank at North first street, San jose, CA about 10pm.

Next early, I call mechanic from another store to fix and he complete this job just $45 in 45 minutes, and he can not find any defects in the same part that used last night.

Conclusion: some mechanic in yourmechanic.com is not too much exprienced and just want to get your money.

So be carefull take look when they fix your car and pay only when your car has fixed the problems. Either, you will loss your money and waste your time with them.

2 MECHANICS FROM YOUR MECHANIC CAME TO MY HOME WITH MY PROBLEM BEING THE THERMOSTAT. IT TOOK 45 DAYS - 5 TOTAL VISITS IN ALL - NO THERMOSTAT CHANGED BUT MY JEEP TOTALLY RUINED.

- AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ISSUE - I RECEIVED TOTAL COMPENSATION FOR PARTS & LABOR THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE IF THE THERMOSTAT WAS CHANGED OUT ON THE FIRST VISIT. I AM STILL ATTEMPTING TO GET FULL COMPENSATION FOR VEHICLE RENTAL FEES. THESE FEES HAPPENED ONLY BECAUSE THE THERMOSTAT WAS NOT CHANGED ON THE FIRST VISIT AS I HAD ASKED - I HAD NO OTHER TRANSPORTATION EXCEPT TO RENT A VEHICLE UNTIL I COULD OBTAIN A LOAN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. I NEVER ASKED FOR A NEW VEHICLE - JUST REIMBURSEMENT ON RENTAL FEES.

SHAME ON " YOUR MECHANIC " FOR EVEN MAKING SUCH A STINK ABOUT RENTAL FEES. HOW ELSE WAS I TO GO LOOK FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE ??

Mechanic was a no-show. Ironically, his car overheated and he was stranded on the side of the road (or drunk and bad at excuses). Yourmechanic.com charged me $25 for the pleasure of not having anyone come fix my car. I spoke with the 800 number guy who promised to refund the $25 cancellation fee. Then a supervisor called and said life is tough. Horrible company. Bad mechanics and bad customer service. I should have just towed my car to the shop and saved a day of relying on these idiots.

They can cancel on weeks old appointment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Their mechanic "Rodney/Ronnie" cancelled on me 2x already. The first time he cancelled, I decided to give then a chance and rescheduled and he came to do the maintenance, after all the hassles of moving things and appointments I shouldve done if he only kept his schedule.

Did not even apologize for the cancellation after he finally came over. I dont even think he remembers that cancellation or just dont give a crap. Then he cancelled on me again on another maintenance transmission fluid change. And this is not like it appointment was scheduled a few days ago, this was scheduled weeks ago.

I shouldve trusted my gut and just scheduled with another mechanic, but Im a creature of habit and does not want to keep changing people who work on my cars. YourMechanic cant even help. Only thing they say is we will reschedule you. Thats about it, take it or leave it.

They can reschedule it up where the sun doesn't shine. Last time Ill use this service.

And they were crying about me including their mechanic's name instead of fixing their broken system.
